CEN Director Introduction: Sharon Ford

As of May 3, I became the sole owner of Christian Editor Network LLC. During that transition, CEN took on a team of directors for its various divisions. Today I’d like to introduce you to one of these amazing and talented individuals.

Sharon Ford is director of The Christian PEN. “The PEN,” as it’s affectionately called, is an organization for support, collaboration, and cooperative competition among Christian editors.

Sharon, tell us about your journey with The Christian PEN.

Since finding PEN during a prayerful search in 2015, I’ve been more than blessed by the wisdom and camaraderie I’ve found with my PEN family. When I joined, I jumped at the chance to volunteer and support this newfound oasis in hopes that I’d learn and grow in preparation for a long mulled-over career change. I felt called to information design and communication. I love to make the confusing clear and ensure good communication. After many classes and months of support from the PEN and PEN Institute courses, I launched my freelance business, Tidy Up Content Services, late 2018.

How do you feel about becoming The Christian PEN’s director?

I am very thankful for the opportunity to serve as PEN director and look forward to working to support the PEN as the best possible resource for editors in Christian publishing.

What are your plans for the PEN?

We’ll focus on providing content to members that is valuable and worthy of our members’ time through the CEN Network News newsletter. We’ll also work to ensure that member benefits are competitive and consistent with industry offerings.

I am extremely grateful to Sharon for taking on this task so enthusiastically! And I’m excited to see how it flourishes under her passionate guidance.

If you’ve been toying with the idea of becoming a freelance editor, if you’ve recently launched an editing business, or if you have an established editing business or work as an in-house editor, I encourage you to check out The Christian PEN and join the family!
