Meet The SoCal Christian Writers’ Conference’s Third Keynote Speaker: Allen Arnold
At the upcoming Southern California Christian Writers’ Conference that I’ll be directing, we have three wonderful keynote speakers lined up for the three days of the conference. I’d like to introduce one of them to you.
Allen Arnold will be giving our final keynote session on Saturday, “Kintsugi Creativity.”
Allen Arnold is the author of The Story of With, an allegory that reveals a better way to live and create through the doorway of identity, imagination, and intimacy. Through his speaking, consulting, and writing, Allen helps artists transform their creativity and pursue it with God. As the founding Fiction Publisher at Thomas Nelson, Allen oversaw the development of more than five hundred novels. In his current role at Ransomed Heart Ministries, Allen oversees content from the mountains of Colorado. Before becoming a Board Member for ACFW, he was awarded their Lifetime Achievement Award in 2012 for his substantial contributions to the world of Christian Fiction.
We had Allen fill out a fun questionnaire to get to know him a little better. Enjoy!
Fun fact about you:
In College, I had a secret identity. I made appearances dressed in the official Captain Crunch uniform to promote the cereal.
Favorite pastime:
Coaching basketball for my kids.
Something most people would be surprised to find out about you:
I drink Salsa by the glass…the hotter, the better.
Besides the Bible, what’s one of your favorite books and why?
The Song of Albion trilogy by Stephen Lawhead – because he does a masterful job of taking readers to a mystical thin place where realities bleed together in ways that leave the reader as transformed as the characters.
One person you would love to meet and why:
Damon Lindelof – he’s the co-creator of the television series Lost, which blew my mind and remains, to me, the best television series to air. I’d love to discuss story and creativity with this brilliant artist. Okay, him and Daniel (I’ve got some questions about his time in the Lion’s Den). 😉
One reason you are excited for the SoCal Christian Writers’ Conference:
I’m most excited about the super-charged atmosphere as artists, publishers and editors come together to experience the wildness of a Creator ready to co-create with his Sons and Daughters.
One of our mottos is “Come for the conference, stay for the fun!” is there any particular attraction/activity you are looking forward to while in Southern California for the conference?
Southern California is where so many stories, movies, and ideas come to life. I’m most looking forward to seeing what God has planned for his storytellers gathering in this wildly creative place.
