A New Surprise

Summer Robidoux, contributing author to 21 Days of Christmas: Stories that Celebrate God’s Greatest Gift, was hooked after writing her first chapter five years ago. Her story, “A Violet Christmas,” is included the second book in the Fiction Lover’s Devotional series.

Tell something about yourself as a person and as a writer.

I began writing five years ago when I hurt myself playing volleyball. The injury made it hard to walk, so I was sitting around bored. My husband mentioned that he had heard me say that I wanted to write a book and this would be a good time to do it. After writing my first chapter, I was hooked!

Are any parts of the story you submitted to 21 Days of Christmas taken from something that happened in your own life or the lives of people you know?

A similar situation happened to my friend’s daughter. She inhaled a sunflower seed at her brother’s baseball game, and they spent the afternoon in the ER.

What else have you written?

I have written two novels, The Pull and Finding Love Between the Lines (coming out this fall). I also enjoy writing short stories, children’s books, and poetry.

Do you write part time or full time? Do you have a job, kids, hobbies?

I’m the mother of three beautiful and active daughters. When I’m not carting the girls to practices, I coach volleyball. I’m also a part-time chiropractor.

Where and when do you write?

I like to write in the early mornings before my kids and husband are up. I kick back on the recliner with my coffee in hand and type away. Once the family is awake, writing becomes a challenge!

What do you love most about writing?

I love getting lost in the characters and the storyline. Most of the time I don’t know where a story is going until an idea suddenly pops into my mind. I find myself giggling or thinking, No way! Writing holds a new surprise with every chapter.

Thanks again for sharing with me and my followers, Summer!
