Excellence in Editing Awards

I so enjoyed getting together with my editor friends and colleagues earlier this month at the Hotel Preston in Nashville for the sixth annual PENCON editors conference.

On the last night of the conference, we announced the finalists in the 2019 Excellence in Editing Awards. This award celebrates newly released books that are superbly written, well edited, and published by a CBA publisher or self-published by a Christian author. It is sponsored by the Christian Editor Connection. We understand that it takes a team to produce a well-written and well-edited book, so we honor the authors, editors, and publishers on those teams.

The EIE judging panel consists of CEC editors who are currently working in the Christian publishing industry. Judging is based on organization of content, flow, clarity, tight writing, accuracy, consistency, lack of typos, and proper use of industry-standard guidelines for punctuation, usage, grammar, and spelling.

Congratulations to these finalists in the 2019 Excellence in Editing Awards:

Common by Laurie Lucking (editor Michele Israel Harper; publisher Love2ReadLove2Write Publishing)

A People Chosen: God’s Purpose and Plan for Israel and the Nations by Karen Engle (editor Karen Engle; publisher East Gate Publishing)

The Light Sines Through: A Story of Hope in the Midst of Suffering by Sara Walker with J. Heyward Rogers (editors Gene Shelburne and Rebecka Scott; publisher Leafwood Publishers)

Free Us From Bullying: Real Solutions Beyond Being Nice by Paul T. Coughlin (editors Mary Hardegree and Rebecka Scott; publisher Leafwood Publishers)

Winners will be announced on Christian Editor Connection’s Facebook page on Saturday, June 1, at 10AM PST/1PM EST.
