SoCal CWC Presents

This year, in lieu of a one-time event, the SoCal Christian Writers’ Conference is doing a series of one-on-one virtual mentoring sessions we’re calling “SoCal CWC Presents.” We started with Screenwriter Mentoring with Bob Saenz and Jeff Willis, who taught on that topic at last year’s conference. Our current session is on Nonfiction Book Proposals with literary agent Stephanie Alton. We’re now taking registrations for Speaker Mentoring for Writers with Tammy Whitehurst.

Basically, we set a maximum of 8 or 10 registrants. Upon receipt of payment, we send participants something to get them started: one or more PDF handouts and/or a link to an audio or video presentation of the mentor.

Participants get a couple of weeks to study those things and apply what they learned. Then they submit something to the mentor. We typically have a couple of options: perhaps two versions of the mentoring session at different prices or a basic session with an added bonus for an additional cost.

After the mentor has reviewed the submissions, he/she sends a written evaluation and sets up a one-on-one Zoom session with each participant, followed by a group Zoom session with all participants where people can ask questions about anything related to the topic of the mentoring session.
